The increasing population, developing technology, and industrialization have increased energy demand and accelerated R&D/product development efforts in this area. Awareness of the energy crisis related to energy resources has led researchers to seek new solutions and work on the use of new technologies. In this context, the 1st International Energy Transition and Sustainability Conference (ETSC’26), organized by the Energy Technologies Application and Research Center (ETARC) at Istanbul Gedik University on January 7-9, 2026, hosted original academic studies from various disciplines on energy transformation and sustainability.

Energy transformation and sustainability are not merely technical issues in today’s world, but vital topics that must be addressed with their environmental, economic, and social dimensions. Accordingly, our conference, organized within the scope of our university, brought together expert academics, researchers, and industry professionals, creating a scientific platform for energy transformation.

This book contains the full texts of the papers presented at the conference on energy transition and sustainability from different disciplines and serves as an important reference source for research on energy transition and sustainability. I would like to thank all the scientists who contributed their work, the conference organizing team, and the supporting institutions, and I hope that this book will inspire new research in the field of energy.
